Calendar of Events
February 19th - The DC Dept. of Small and Local Business Development is hosting "an open discussion on building an appropriate [legal] referral system or systems to support DC businesses." This event is about helping small businesses find legal services that they can afford. Click here to register. I don't need legal services, but I feel like this is an event at which I may make a solid connection or two, so I'll be in attendance. Also, lawyers like to make commercials, so I may have a chance to pick up some business.
February 20th - Tip Club - Bethesda. Highly recommended.
February 21st - Greater Washington Business Roundtable. This event may or may not be a good use of your time. I'm going to check it out because I think it has potential, but I'm just letting you know that this is an event that I consider myself gambling by attending. The Ruffin Report is about not gambling on networking events, but once in a while, I'll list an event that's basically a gamble and include the necessary caveat.
February 22nd - Tip Club - Washington, DC. Highly recommended.
February 28th - Montgomery County Biz in Black County Executive Forum. Montgomery County is one of the top 20 wealthiest counties in the nation. Probably a good idea to see what business opportunities exist for you there.
March 16th - GWHCC Expo

A great referral for Crystal is any project manager who is looking to advance their career.
Don't forget to share Crystal's video as broadly as you can. My goal is to feature a new small businessperson each week and build The Ruffin Report into a platform where the person being showcased actually gets some inquiries as a result. The whole point of The Ruffin Report is to help get all our phones ringing, but we each have to do our part and help with the promotion.
A great referral for me is any family interested in family photos in the form of wall art. This blog focuses on business topics, but my business is family photos. Visit my home page for more info.
Other great referrals are school administrators or PTA leaders who are interested in discussing how I can help the school raise money at the school fundraising auctions.
And I'm always looking to form strategic partnerships with business owners and organizations whose target market is families. The wine maker and the cheese maker service the same consumer without competing with each other. If they work together, they can help each other bring in more business. If you think there's an opportunity for us to work together to bring in more business, click here to access my calendar and schedule a call.
If you're interested in making videos like the ones above to market your business, I'm running one-time only 50% off promotion in the month of February. Click here for more info.
