Calendar of Events
February 28th - Montgomery County Biz in Black County Executive Forum. Montgomery County is one of the top 20 wealthiest counties in the nation. Probably a good idea to see what business opportunities exist for you there.
March 2nd - Her Corner business networking event for women business owners. From the invite:
"Have you ever wanted to sit down and have coffee with other like-minded women business owners who are serious about their business? Or have you ever wanted to talk with women who just *get it* – the ups and downs of owning a business?
At Her Corner we have built a community for women who are serious about their businesses. Women who are building their own brands (not representing and selling other brands.) And once a month we invite you (regardless of whether you’re a member,) to join us for a free cup of coffee."
March 7th - Awesome Women Entrepreneurs chapter launch event for the Prince George's County chapter. From the invite:
"This different and intentional way of networking invites new and seasoned women business owners to network, collaborate an support one another through small-group gatherings in members' homes or other settings. Think of it as a monthly cocktail party! Each chapter is hyper-local, made up of women entrepreneurs in their own communities."
I know Pamela Vines, the lady who is leading this chapter, and I expect that attending this event will be a very good use of your time.
March 14th - Thomas Ellis workshop on how to use LinkedIn for 30 minutes per day to grow your business. If you're just "on" LinkedIn, but don't really know how to use it to generate leads for your business, this is the workshop for you.
March 16th - GWHCC Expo. Held at the Washington Convention Center, this is the largest event of the year for the Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. You can participate as an attendee, an exhibitor, or as a sponsor.
Small Business Spotlight
DeShuna Spencer, founder of Kweli TV. Check out Kweli TV at www.kweli.tv
Don't forget to share DeShuna's video as broadly as you can. My goal is to feature a new small businessperson each week and build The Ruffin Report into a platform where the person being showcased actually gets some inquiries as a result. The whole point of The Ruffin Report is to help get all our phones ringing, but we each have to do our part and help with the promotion.
A great referral for me is any family interested in family photos in the form of wall art. This blog focuses on business topics, but my business is family photos. Visit my home page for more info.
Other great referrals are school administrators or PTA leaders who are interested in discussing how I can help the school raise money at the school fundraising auctions.
And I'm always looking to form strategic partnerships with business owners and organizations whose target market is families. The wine maker and the cheese maker service the same consumer without competing with each other. If they work together, they can help each other bring in more business. If you think there's an opportunity for us to work together to bring in more business, click here to access my calendar and schedule a call.
If you're interested in making videos like the ones above to market your business, I'm running one-time only 50% off promotion in the month of February. Click here for more info.
